A journey of flavours and emotions
Restaurant Vedla in La Valle
The Cuisine
Where taste meets tradition
All the flavour of Ladin cuisine
In the enchanting setting of Val Badia, our Vedla restaurant welcomes you to La Valle with an authentic, family atmosphere, where time slows down and every dish tells a story of passion and tradition.
At lunchtime, our cuisine is simple and authentic: delicious starters, light first courses and flavours that bring the mountains to your table, designed for those who want a quick but high-quality break before heading back to discover the beauty of the Dolomites.
In the evening, however, the pace slows down and the meal becomes a more refined taste experience, with an à la carte menu offering a wealth of variety and excitement. All our pasta is homemade — even the dried pasta — and our first courses, such as ravioli, risotto and noodles, are the beating heart of our cuisine.
There is no shortage of selected meats, innovative desserts and homemade ice cream, which are perfect to be enjoyed in the afternoon on our sun-kissed terrace.
An intimate place, ideal for family gatherings or celebrating special moments, where genuine hospitality is combined with the pleasure of good food.
About us
The chef: passion and initiative
About us
Leading this renaissance today is chef Tobias, an enterprising owner with a lot of experience behind him. After his culinary studies in Bressanone and a year of specialisation in pastry making, Tobias worked in various hotels and pastry shops in South Tyrol to gain experience in different environments and enrich his culinary expertise. After several years spent jointly managing various restaurants, he decided to embark on this adventure in a magical and special place like Val Badia.
Today, in these rooms steeped in history, he carries on a culinary tradition based on passion, simplicity and authenticity, the very values of this establishment, adding modern flavours.
Our history
The history of Osteria Vedla
An adventure full of passion and tradition
The walls of our restaurant tell the story of centuries of life. The building, with cellars built in 1445, still houses two ancient living rooms: one from the 17th century and one from the 19th century, now transformed into cosy dining rooms, where time seems to have stood still. Everything has remained as it used to be — the wooden tables and benches, the sturdy chairs with soft cushions that invite you to linger a little longer after your meal, and the simple decorations — because here, every detail is designed to give you a feeling of warmth, authenticity and a homely atmosphere.
This has always been a family home, formerly used as a tavern. In the spring of 2024, we decided to renovate the entire house to restore the ancient charm of Osteria Vedla. After about a year of work, the restaurant reopened its doors on 28 June 2025 to the many tourists who visit this wonderful valley, as well as to the locals.
Location
In the heart of La Valle, between history and nature
Where we are
Our tavern is located in La Valle, more precisely in the village of Dlijia Vedla, a place that seems suspended in time. Here, among the ruins of the old village church and the scents of alpine meadows, you can breathe in the true essence of Val Badia: silence, light and authentic beauty.
A few steps from the restaurant, a scenic trail leads in just five minutes to the picturesque church of Santa Barbara, one of the most beloved and photographed places in Alta Badia. A gentle walk, ideal for an afternoon stroll, surrounded by nature and heart-warming views.
Our terrace is a little corner of paradise: sunny all day long, it offers a spectacular view of the church of Santa Barbara and the majestic Sas dla Crusc, which turns red at sunset. It is the perfect place to sip a glass of wine, enjoy a homemade ice cream or simply let yourself be lulled by the peace and quiet of the mountains.
Those arriving by car can park at the crossroads and enjoy a short walk of a few minutes, or drive comfortably to the tavern, where you will find a parking.
